The Basic Pistol Course

I hold certifications to teach from three different platforms: National Rifle Association (NRA), National African American Gun Association (NAAGA), and United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA). All three associations offer excellent information and media support slides. Along with my personal training experience, I will incorporate materials from all three platforms to ensure you receive the best presentation possible. These courses include 4-6 hours of classroom instruction, multiple-choice quiz, practical exercise, and 1-2 hours of range time.

NRA Basic Pistol Course – 6 to 8 hours:

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This is an instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end, including hands-on practical portion, and a range qualification shoot.

NAAGA Basic Pistol Course – 6 to 8 hours:

This basic handgun course introduces the shooter to the Fundamentals of Firearm Safety, and how to properly handle a revolver and/or pistol. You will learn the functions of a handgun and its inner workings. The lecture portion includes reviewing the Universal Rules of Firearm Safety, Proper Stance, Grip, Sight Alignment / Sight Picture, Trigger Control, legal aspects of owning, transporting, and using a firearm in self-defense situations, along with tactics of self-defense. This class is certified by NAAGA and is a prerequisite before taking the Advanced Defensive Pistol Courses.

USCCA Basic Pistol Course – 6 to 8 hours:

This lesson will introduce you to a wealth of information on different types of self-defense firearms.

Including a very visual overview of the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting. Within this lesson, we will explain the differences between the skills required for being a good “marksman” at the range, and the skills that might be required to save your life if you are ever the subject of a violent attack. Learn what it means to be a responsible gun owner inside and outside of your home. In this 6–8-hour class, you’ll discover effective and lawful self-defense involves much more than just owning a firearm.

*All three courses meet the requirements for Virginia's Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP), and Maryland's Handgun Qualification License (HQL). The NAAGA and USCCA courses will credit 8-hours towards the 16-hour requirement for Maryland’s and Washington DC’s Concealed Carry Weapon.
